This sensitively rendered drawing is of me giving my dear Mum a loving, farewell kiss as she prepared to pass from this life. 
I used sanguine chalk to create a feeling of warmth in this work, as my world was warmer with her in it, and now is colder without her.

The drawing reflects my deep love and profound sadness, as well as tenderness towards my Mother. I sought to provoke a feeling of dignity as well as enduring loss through this artwork.

End of life experiences can be overwhelming, however in my Mother's case, we felt fortunate that the loving care she received from both health professionals and her own large family created the situation that honoured her in this time.
