I painted 'About grief, furniture and dog walking' after my husband left for Finland to see his mother in palliative care in April 2025. She had been admitted just a few days previous and she passed away a couple of weeks later. I was in Brisbane. I was grieving. We knew she would not have long left. Before she passed she said she wanted to give me a piece of furniture that we both liked very much. Whilst my husband was in Finland and I was in Brisbane, I had my two dogs to provide emotional support. The painting is a compilation of various feelings: sadness, gratitude, love.
