This is a mixed media piece inspired by a photograph that I took of my mother in the last days of her life when my sister arrived for a visit.

My mother had had a stroke and could not talk,She had dementia but the minute she saw my sister she seemed to glow with recognition and love.

This is a portrait of both my mother and my sister.a few days before my mother passed away.
I have used pre loved lace and fabric to form a quilt containing images of some of the things that she loved. she loved the colour blue and lace and frilly things. She was also very religious so the idea of a holy card came to mind as I was making the quilt. It is hand stitched with love.
