Artwork Description
This image is the morning of day 2 of Glenn’s living wake.
We see a small group receiving instructions from coffin Weaver/facilitator Zimmi Forest. Off camera is another group weaving the lid, beyond them is a collection of plant material.
In another part of the garden is a group talking death, dying, grief, and celebrating Glenn’s life… Facilitated by death educator Emma Beattie.
The coffin and lid is being woven from Cats Claw vine. It is an invasive plant that kills our native flora. This vine was collected the week before by Glenn, three of his family members and Zimmi.
In two days, 35 of his friends, family, and community wove this beautiful object… but more importantly, wove an invisible bond between themselves….that is the container of care that will support them all when the coffin finally holds Glenn’s physical body.
