Artist Living with a Disability

Artwork Description
Interactions and conversations nearing the end of a person's life can be of great value for the clinician in a caring role and the patient. Developing insight, reflecting on their individual stories and identity. Reframing the perspective from the more immediate tests, results and prognosis to their dreams and hopes, the fabric of their lives. An affirmation of their sense of personhood. This piece utilises pre-loved fabrics, textures colours and patterns which stir memories and associations. Finding stories and and references which create moments of interest and thoughtfulness . There colour and vibrancy in the patchwork of life stories, are interrupted by and contrast with the monochromatic , indistinct and detached qualities of the clinical references.  Perhaps also suggesting that the medicalised stage of life is small in comparison but of great significance. Conversations at end of life can add to the sense of legacy, identity, dignity.
