Brain cancer was a diagnosis that you were never expecting.

It hit us for six too. We rallied around you and navigated a rollercoaster of emotions together.

Despite everything, you refused to see your diagnosis as a life sentence – just a detour on life’s journey – and you urged us to do the same.

As we sat beside your hospital bed, we took turns holding your hand, burned your favourite candle, sang songs with special meaning to you and shared precious stories to celebrate your life.

We were right there beside you until you took your last breath. With immense love in our hearts, we showed you the same tenderness and care that you always showed us.

Today, as I cling to the pieces that made up your extraordinary life, I see parts of you in me and am reminded of your magical presence as butterflies flutter by. 

I pause to reflect on both the beauty and fragility of life and am aware that everything can change in an instant.
