The link

This painting is about the family support when our elder is terminally ill with cancer.

The carer is close by all the time, every step of the way watching & waiting for the strongest link in the family to break.  The carer finds it hard to get some time to herself.

There is a strong connection with family members when our elder is sick. The links in the family are very strong in Aboriginal families. Everyone looks after the matriarch of the family with respect and care.

Once the link breaks, there is no elder anymore to turn to & ask for guidance and advice.

Our elders are full of wisdom & knowledge but once they are gone, we are left alone to track our way through life from what we have learned from them and guide our children with the same knowledge.
