Zimmi Forest is Australia’s only Regenerative Coffin Weaver.

Her passion for the environment led her to scale up from domestic basket making and teaching to becoming the person you call on to help you, your family and community weave your coffin.  

Zimmi collaborates with death educators to give communities the opportunity to create a final vessel in the most environmentally sensitive way. 

Sometimes families come into the forest to harvest this invasive vine, other times Zimmi’s team head into remote environments to remove the Cats Claw from the trees…..all human, by hand.

Whether for a living wake, VAD or after death, weaving offers the grieving process a focus and allows the hands to be the dominant wisdom, connecting to this universal and ancient activity.  When the community comes together, many hands talking the language of life, love and grief, the ripple effects go deep and wide.
